Wearing a New Hat

As a calligrapher and event details creative, I’m usually working in my studio behind the scenes. Every once in a while, though, I get the chance to try something new and step outside my comfort zone a little bit. Or, in this case, a lotta bit. My friend Carolina is a tremendously gifted event planner and day-of coordinator. Her work is stunning and I knew she would do justice to an idea I had for a lavender bridal shower. It was a lot of work and I learned a LOT about what planners go through to make sure their clients’ event aspirations come off without a hitch (so much!).

Lavender Everything

The idea for this styled shoot came from my love of lavender. It’s one of my favorite scents and I’ve even begun using it as an ingredient in baked goods and custards. Since lavender was theme, I knew I wanted there to be touches of lavender absolutely everywhere. I’d already planned to incorporate it into the invitation suite, party favors, and signage I was creating, but then we found out last minute that we’d lost our dessert vendor so I was excited to work up desserts that featured lavender too.

You read that last one right – Paleta Please made us custom lavender ice cream and when I tasted it I was in heaven. The whole team brought their A game that day and the whole event was a huge success.
